The Danza Mobile Company will open, next October 2, the 9th European Conference for the Advancement of Assistive Technologies.
Since this contemporary dance company was set up in 1999, it has performed several spectacles; "bad occupation", "continue beating" , "l'image", "frozen tongues"... amongst others.
In this ocassion, they will perform their latest show "Jaquelado", a 50 minutes long show that will present Manuel Cañadas's choreography.

The Beko Errota Restaurant is located in a traditional Basque country house in Hondarribia.
The continuous renewal and extension of the interior and exterior area, have become Beko-Errota into the best place for multitudinous congress celebrations.

Best paper award !!!

We received great number of contributions from all around the world; thank you very much to all of you. It is out of doubt that Assistive Technology is a hot topic and fortunately lot of people is working hard to improve quality of life of people with disabilities.
The scientific committee did a hard work and all contributions were rated. Unfortunately, due to the amount of papers, not all them were accepted as oral communications, but those not accepted will have the chance to bet at the conference as poster.
Deadline for full paper submission is June 15th and from those submitted, best paper will be selected by the scientific committee. The best paper will be awarded and the winner will be announced during the conference.
So, I will encourage you all to make an effort on describing you work/project/experience in the best way so you can get this award. Good luck!!

Conference contents: not only science and technology...

AAATE 2007 is not just a scientific & technological conference; we want to go further. Regarding this, in addition to the traditional plenary and parallel sessions, industrial and social activities will be held at the conference venue. The scientific activities will be restricted to conference assistants but other activities will be open to eveybody.

Regarding industry, the aim is to present real AT products and services as example of an emerging field. The industry area will have different activities; product exhibition, product demonstrations and specific sessions targeting strategic fields, such as tourism, labour-integration or ICT. These activities will be a meeting point between demand and offer. Not only users and product providers, but also professionals demanding accessibility solutions for their business. This activities will be available for conference assistants but also open to professionals and external visitors.

On the other hand, AAATE 2007 conference also aims bringing Assistive Technology to society, to streets, to the city... Every afternoon visitors will have the opportunity to join alive AT product demonstrations, test latest advancements and enjoy with AT related shows.

This is the official blog of the 9th European Conference for the Advancement of Assistive Technology in Europe, that will be held next October 3-5 in San Sebastian, Spain.

This blog wants to be an open site to discuss, comment, ask and suggest issues related to the conference and Assistive Technology in general. As Chairman of the conference I want this event to be a meeting point of every person involved in Assistive Technology, so I encourage you to contribute with your opinion, experience and good practices.

We all have the opportunity and responsibility to give a step forward in the development of the Assistive Technology field, so people with disabilities can get better products, services and solutions and get a more accessible world.
